    Happy Gregorian Calendar New Year, Lunar New Year and a Very Peri PANTONE Color of the Year 2022!

    Personally I am a proud PANTONE Color Products enthusiast, sipping my coffee from a PANTONE 520 Aubergine-hued mug as I write this post. As we were developing our end-of-2021 marketing, I made sure we weaved in the year’s two colors — PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. So it should not be much of a surprise that I was waiting in anticipation for them to announce their 2022 Color of The Year: PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri.

    We are so excited to start using the color in our marketing that the SixB team designed some festive logos for the occasion, featured here, incorporating a solid Very Peri in reverse as well as one with an image of fibers and orbs in reverse, as PANTONE has been highlighting in their materials about the color.

    Like clockwork, every new U.S. administration ushers in big changes in trade, taxation, and manufacturing policies. True to form, the newest administration has just revisited the "Buy American" concept via a recent Executive Order on "Strengthening American Manufacturing," focusing on making and buying American goods as a way to boost prosperity here at home.

We have been producing labels for beverage industry clients for decades, and in the last few years we have observed a growing trend among beer craft brewers to switch from bottles to cans.
     
    Canned packaging is quite the trend, despite the fact that when many consumers think about craft beer, the typical image that comes to mind is of a table or a bar with drinkers raising long-necks to their smiling lips. Craft beer in bottles, especially those of dark amber or green glass, is iconic and a staple. Not only has craft beer been distinguished by its high quality and flavor profiles, but by its sparkling, eye-catching packaging.
     
    So it may come as a surprise to some that American craft beer in cans is becoming increasingly accepted by consumers, as well as a more common sight in breweries and stores. To better appreciate how this part of the beverage market has changed, it is helpful to know three things about how craft beer — an industry valued at $23.5 billion and growing fast — creates its niche in the beer marketplace.

SixB Labels has joined the effort from donation initiatives to prioritizing production on these essential hand sanitizer labels. This piece will focus on hand sanitizer labels in variations of design, technical specs and printing options.

    Client Chats Series — Our client company, Dallas Distilleries, maker of the Herman Marshall brand of Texas whiskies, hides in plain sight off the main road in Garland, Texas, amid sprawling warehouses in a business park. Behind an unassuming façade, fronted by a shop selling whiskey by the bottle, sits a cavernous space full of open-top cypress fermentation tanks and white oak casks, where a big gleaming pot still, like an engine from a steampunk movie, holds pride of place.

    I participated in one of their weekend tours, full of history, chemistry and fun. We listened to an account of how the whiskey is made, sampled bottled products, including bourbon and rye, and tasted the sour mash as well as the white dog — the new whiskey before it is aged. Along with other customers, I got to fill, cork, and label the bottle of bourbon I bought. Then Herman Beckley, who leads the tours, sat down with me to share some more details of their company’s history and explain how their experience working with SixB Labels has helped them to showcase and sell their products.
